Robert Robinson was a Liverpool player for eight years in the early 1900's.
After his transfer from Sunderland in the spring of 1904, he made nine First Division appearances, scoring five times, before the end of that 1903-04 season, but those goals were not enough to stop the club's slide into the Second Division.
In his first full season at Anfield he was top-scorer with 23 from 32 league matches as Liverpool won that division by two points from Bolton Wanderers.
Robert and his colleagues coped astonishingly well back in the top division, so much so that they ended the season as Champions, four points clear of Preston North End.
Robert only missed four fixtures and added another 11 goals to his rapidly-growing total.
During the latter stages of his Liverpool career, Robinson moved into the half-back line and so his goals-per-game average inevitably suffered.
Robinson joined Tranmere in 1912 when the club played in the Lancashire combination.
