A defender who made just a single First Division appearance for Liverpool in both the 1912-13 & 1913-14 seasons. His first game was as a member of the side which crashed 1-4 at Manchester City on January 18, 1913 and his second and last match for the club was in a goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on September 27, 1913.
However, tragedy struck when Holden lost a leg in World War I and on May 3, 1919 Liverpool and Tranmere played a testimonial game for him and raised £15.
