The Scottish full-back made just one appearance for Liverpool's first-team in the third league fixture of the 1928-29 season. A late goal by Dick Edmed was not enough to prevent the Reds going down 2-1 at home to visitors Sheffield United.
He is remembered as one of Exeter's best ever players, part of the side that finished runners-up in Third Division South. He played 221 games for Exeter from 1930-1936.
Jimmy was granted a testimonial match on May, 1, 1935 where Liverpool faced Exeter.
