James Garside was a forward who made five appearances for Liverpool's first-team in the early part of the 20th Century.
He took over the No.9 shirt from Sam Raybould for the fixture with Lincoln City in January 1905, one of only two league matches the prolific Raybould missed during the club's Second Division championship-winning season.
James was given four more opportunities the following year, when the club managed to achieve the very rare feat of winning the League championship only one season after being promoted from the Second Division.
