Henderson was only called upon twice in the 1894-95 season and as those games resulted in 5-0 and 3-0 defeats to Aston Villa and Burnley respectively, it was perhaps not surprising that changes were made as Liverpool tried unsuccessfully to hold on to their new status in the top Division.

Hugh was one of the casualties and never played for the club again.
