With a strike rate of just over one goal in three matches, Barton is probably best remembered for his hat-trick in a 7-4 demolition of Everton in February 1933.
His first season with Liverpool saw him make just 12 appearances and although he was initally overlooked at the start of the new campaign (30-31), he was a regular in the side from November onwards.
The 1932-33 season was his most productive season for the Reds, a year in which he scored 13 times from 36 matches, including that famous treble against the Toffees.
