General's father must have been in the military as he named two sons, General and Admiral! He played 22 games for Liverpool at the end of the 19th century before being replaced by Archie Goldie. General spent the majority of his career at Millwall in the Western League, which the Lions won twice, in 1908 and 1909. He played 318 games and scored nine goals from 1903 - 1911 at Millwall.
