Dick Johnson was a cunning and skillful forward who represented the club in the years immediately following the end of the First World War.
He averaged a goal every other game from the 26 First Division appearances he made during the 1920-21 season, including a hat-trick as Preston North End were thrashed 6-0 at Anfield on 25th September 1920. But injury meant that he had to watch from the sidelines as his colleagues won the club's 3rd First Division championship in 1922.
However, he was a key figure a year later when the title was retained, only missing five league games and scoring 14 times. Recurrence of his injury problems meant that he only played another 13 matches for Liverpool's first-team over the next two seasons and his final selection for the club was as a member of the side that beat Everton 3-1 at Anfield at the start of February 1925.
