Edmed was a winger who arrived at Anfield in the summer of 1926 and went straight into the first-team, missing only four of the 42 First Division games in his debut season.
He was one of two ever-presents, the other being Tom Bromilow, and the following year he netted 14 times, a high total for a winger - although he had also taken on the role of the club's penalty-taker by this time. He only missed three league games in 1928-29 and added a further 16 goals, a very impressive total considering that Robert Done was now taking the spot-kicks.
Although he figured in two-thirds of the club's league fixtures in 1929-30, cartilage injury curtailed Dick's availability for the team and he was no longer sure of his place by the end of that season. He made just 12 appearances the next year before being replaced by Harold Barton. Dick subsequently moved to Bolton Wanderers, but his injury problems forced him to retire.
