A superb centre forward in his day, Dave Hickson is one of the few players to have made the move from Everton to Liverpool.
He signed for the Toffees as an 18-year-old in 1948, scoring 71 goals in 151 games for the Blues from 1951-1955.
Everton were promoted to the First Division in 1954, but after only one season in the top flight, scoring 12 goals in 39 league games, he moved to First Division Aston Villa. He only stayed two months there before joining Huddersfield where a certain Bill Shankly coached the reserves and took over as manager a year later in November 1956.
Hickson returned to Everton in July 1957, scoring a further 40 goals in 92 games.
The instinctive centre forward had a reputation as a courageous and no-nonsense frontman and he certainly took a brave decision when he opted to make the move to Liverpool at the age of 30.
Reds manager, Phil Taylor, hoped Hickson would be the man whose goals would take Liverpool back into the First Division. But a month after signing for Liverpool, in December 1959, Hickson was again playing under Bill Shankly.
He scored 21 goals in 29 matches and 17 in 38 in his two seasons at Liverpool in Division Two. Hickson and Hunt were an effective partnership but Shankly brought in Ian St John in 1961 which signalled the end of Hickson's Anfield adventure.
Hickson is the only player to have played for all three Merseyside Liverpool clubs: Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere.
Other clubs:
Ellesmere Port Town (amateur), Everton, Aston Villa, Huddersfield, Everton (2), Cambridge City (amateur), Bury, Tranmere, Ballymena United; Ellesmere Port Town (2), Northwich Victoria, Winsford Utd, Fleetwood (all four amateur)
