Goalkeeper Bob Wardle arrived at Liverpool in exchange for Steve Ogrizovic who went to Shrewsbury. Wardle never got the opportunity he desired and made it only as far as the bench. Unfortunately he had to retire while at Liverpool because of an eye injury. He was awarded with a testimonial on December 16, 1986 when Liverpool faced Shrewsbury.
