Archie Rawlings had an eventful career before joining Liverpool. He played his only England international in a 2-0 win against. Belgium in Bruxelles in May 1921.
He starred in Preston Nort End's FA Cup run in 1922, scoring one and creating another in the semis against Tottenham. Unfortunately for him Preston lost to Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the final.
Tall and powerful winger Rawlings joined 1922 and 1923 champions Liverpool in March 1924, after playing 147 games in four years for struggling First Division team Preston.
He made his Reds debut in a 0-0 draw vs Blackburn on March 15, the first of 11 consecutive games he was picked for until the end of the season. Liverpool finished a disappointing 12th.
A year later Rawlings only missed two matches and contributed seven useful goals from his wide position as the club improved their league standing by eight places.
After playing in 10 of the opening 11 games of the 1925-26 season, Rawlings lost his place to Cyril Oxley and only figured twice in the second half of the season, his final first-team selection coming at Bury on April 10, 1926.
